MRS. KATHY KALOUGATA

So I've taken a little bit of a blogging hiatus. What it comes down to is I needed a break. Because when you go from blogging every single other day about all these exotic things you are doing in foreign countries to a mundane schedule you kinda feel like you don't have much to offer.

But, I could never go without writing about my best friend's wedding. So here we go folks.

CHAPTER THREE

Welp.

It has officially been a little more than one week since I have started my first big girl job. And I figured that meant it was due time for me to give an update on my life since my travels abroad have ended thus bringing the brick wall of reality I have deemed as...
Chapter Three.
So we all have these chapters in our life. Cliché right? Ya, well I'm all about it so deal. Lots of people like to think that every year of their life is a new chapter. And if that works for them then cool. They've got an average of 81 chapters in their novel and wow thats a lot.

PASS THE TORCH

Guys, I used to not like BYU.

But this year, I have grown more than ever to love and appreciate this wonderful university that has given me so much. Because I am a BYU student I have been able to gain a phenomenal education in the Marriott School of Management, rub shoulders with incredibly talented individuals, develop my own talents, strengthen my testimony, explore the world... the list never ends.
I never thought I would feel this way but I am beyond proud to be a Brigham Young University cougar.

V. DAY BABY

If you know me,  you know I'm normally not one to go and blog away about my daily activities. For the most part this blog has been about my travels, the events I plan and my life philosophy. But today, this post, is totally about my Valentine day activities. Because lets face it, my Valentines was just TOO good to not post about. So if you're sick of hearing about Valentines, well then I give you permission to skip this post.

Top Notch Top Knot

Life is like a series of t-ball games. You go about life gathering some friends, call yourself Team Blue Crush and take a whack at life together. Sometimes you win the game. And when you do you're thrown into the air on top of your friend's shoulders and rewarded Kool-Aid Jammers and Fruit by the Foot. But sometimes life comes up from behind you, pulls your feet from under you and you lose the game with your face smack down in the dirt.

Unfortunately this post is not about one of those Kool-Aid Jammers moments.

12 Days of Chandeliers

I never wrote a Thanksgiving gratitude post. I mean I wrote one but it was never published... And it isn't that I am an ungrateful human being because I have so much that I am grateful for. To say the least, Thanksgiving was just plain hard this year. Plus, coming back from Thanksgiving break is always hectic and crazy; it is the end of the semester filled with finals and papers. It is quite an art if you are able to mix holiday cheer into such a stressful time and I admire those who successfully do so. Admittedly this post probably makes it seem like I was able to achieve this but lets be honest here, I had way too much fun. And as a result I spent more time figuring out how bad I could do on a final, and maintain my grade, than I actually did studying for the final. I'm a procrastinator like most, but never in my college career have I ever procrastinated my finals this bad... case of "senioritis" I guess.

ROTC Military Ball

Men in uniforms. I faint at even the thought of it! The talented Rachael was asked to plan BYU's ROTC Military Ball this year. Which, of course, means I'm her right hand gal for the night. We have this unspoken agreement between the two of us that when we aren't busy planning our own events, we are dedicated to helping each other with theirs. And it always works out so perfectly because Rachael and I bring such different strengths to the table and man, we work extremely well as a team.

Those 24 Hours

Oh Rachael...
I am so #blessed that I met this gem Fall semester in the Jr. core business classes. We got "stuck" together in a group project and bonded over our mutual lack of interest in doing the assignment. Ever since that great night of our procrastination realization we have become solid friends.

Winter semester rolled around and let's just say that a lot of crazy things happened that semester. It was the semester that, as lame as it may seem, I lived by the phrase YOLO. And that stupid, overused phrased (that I'm ashamed I even admitted I used) got me to do a lot of stupid things. Emphasis on the word a lot.

Let's start at the beginning.

I moved into apt. 113 of The Village - gold polka dot walls and all. There I came even closer to my friend and now roommate Rachael. We laughed, we exercised, we ate (a lot), we cleaned (also another thing we did a lot), we met a lot of people (and I truly mean a lot) and we also went on a lot of midnight adventures with the new people we met.

In Rachel and I's friendship there is a little something that we refer to as "those 24 hours". And the funny thing is that we both know exactly what 24 hours we are referencing. Because in those 24 hours we had never felt more alive, wild, free and young as we did right then. Those 24 hours were a crazy whirlwind and defined everything it meant to be a reckless college student. Those 24 hours are something I look back on, remember, and laugh about. And the best part is Rachael and I documented the whole thing via Twitter & Snapchat.

In those 24 hours Rachael and I went camping with a bunch of 18 year olds. We had a bonfire, played with a mini horse, and ran into one of our exes. We made two rounds to the cafeteria at the hospital (yay for Oreo milkshakes!), both failed our finals we studied for five hours for, celebrated the fact that we both failed our finals with Swig cookies and drinks and a BYU baseball game. We kissed boys from the UVU baseball team and "borrowed" their jerseys, ended up at an Olympus High School reunion, stalked Miss Teen Alabama for a solid 45 mins (and we totally do know why) and had two of the best car dance parties I've ever had in my life. Rachael and I have come to the conclusion that we should't be left alone together for very long.

All I can is Chloe and Rebecca.... Man, those two made a great pair.

xx,
m.
